Do you need to present information in English? Don't get #overwhelmed or nervous. Remember, practice makes perfect. Step 1: Know your audience. Coworkers? Partners? Sales? Decide if your tone will be formal or informal. Decide if you are speaking in first person (I), second person (you), or third person (he, she, it). Make sure all your verb tenses agree in the past, present or future. Step 2: Write a short outline describing your main points. Don't worry about an introduction or conclusion until you already know what you are going to include. Step 3: Practice, practice, practice! Read through it at least 2 times to friends, family or yourself on camera. Step 4: Don't try to memorize it word for word, or you will sound like a 🤖. Focus on remembering important facts, numbers, and dates. Make sure you know how to pronounce your main pieces of information or important vocab. Step 5: Finally, prepare to speak to an audience. Make sure your voice is loud enough to reach the back of the room. Take a deep breath before you start and keep breathing if you feel nervous. Make eye contact with different people in the room. And slow down! Your audience is there to listen to you, so you don't need to rush through it. Finish your presentation with a big smile and strong "Thank you" at the end. After a few times, you might even begin to enjoy presenting in English! If you want a teacher to help you practice, let me know.
