Do you want to know a secret?
Learning English is nearly impossible if you don’t have the right people to speak it with.
This may come as a surprise, but practicing English with an English teacher just isn’t enough!
Yes, an English teacher will understand everything you say. English teachers use simple, clear language that you can understand. And a good ESL/EFL teacher can probably help you improve pronunciation or grammar. But what happens outside the classroom when the teacher is gone?
The real test is whether you can speak with someone who isn’t a teacher: just a regular native speaker.
A non-teacher will be much more difficult to understand. He or she will speak fast and will probably use words and phrases that you have never heard before. You might get confused. You might not understand everything they say. They might not understand you, either! You might be feeling nervous thinking about it.
But no worries! Talkin’ Town English has the solution.
On Friday, December 18, 2020, we will be welcoming native English speaker Virginia O. Record to conversation class. It will be a special 90-minute class where we will practice exchanging information and learning more about the ways native speakers respond, react, and reflect in a conversational setting. During the interview, you can take notes, ask questions, and focus on listening for information.
The presentation will be followed by a review session with your English teacher. Then, you can review what language was used and answer any questions you and other students have about the English you heard.
It’s the best of both worlds.
You’ll have a certified English teacher with you and a native English speaker who is not a teacher. So, you can practice your speaking and listening just like you would in a real conversation. The difference is that your teacher will be there to help you along.
You couldn’t ask for a better way to practice English.
If you’re ready to take your English to the next level, join us this Friday, December 18 on Zoom for a taste of what Talkin’ Town is all about.
See you there!
